Freestyle & Practice Days

If you’re chasing maximum seat time without the pressure of competition, our Practice Days and Freestyle Events are for you. Whether you’re building confidence, testing changes to your car or just enjoying laps with mates, these events are all about relaxed, non-competitive drifting.

The main difference is that our Practice Days are shorter sessions, while our Freestyle Events (Winterfest and Locktoberfest) are our biggest drift festivals, offering multiple layouts, more driving groups and huge amounts of track time across a full weekend.

You’ll occasionally see us run optional fun Mini Comps such as Big Entry during Freestyle events, but the focus is still on getting as much seat time as possible!!

We do throw some fun Mini Comps into Freestyle Days though…. Big Entry is a great example!

Practice Days / Nights

Our Practice Days and Nights are relaxed, non-competitive sessions held throughout the year at Mallala Motorsport Park and The Bend Motorsport Park.

Intermediate: For drivers who have progressed enough (ie: from drift school) and are confident staying on track and linking corners.

Advanced: For experienced drivers looking for higher speeds, bigger entries and more tandems. Longer run-ups are used, with roll cages and harnesses required.

Freestyle Days

Winterfest and Locktoberfest are our largest non-competitive drift events, held at The Bend Motorsport Park.
Running across multiple days with several layouts, these festivals are designed to maximise seat time while allowing drivers to progress safely alongside others of a similar experience level. They’re the perfect excuse to make a weekend of drifting with your mates!

Because these are capped, multi-day track hire packages, entries are sold as full weekend passes only (single-day driver entries are not available).

The different driver groups are:

Beginner: Still learning the basics. Skidpan only. No cage required.

Intermediate: Confident linking corners. Solo driving focus, tandems allowed. No cage required.

Experienced: Regular tandems, higher speeds. Roll cages and 4-point harnesses are required.

Advanced: Maximum speeds, think competition-level driving and technical runs. Roll cages and 4-point harnesses are strictly required.

Vehicle & Licensing Requirements

Make sure your car meets our minimum standards before entering. Vehicle requirements can vary depending on the event and track, so double-check on the event page when booking to avoid any surprises.

All of our events require a RACERS Clubman Licence ($50 for a day licence) or $125 for an annual licence.

While Drifting SA membership isn’t compulsory, it saves you money on event entry fees, shows your commitment to the sport, and helps us plan and grow our events. Membership is valid for 12 months from date of sign up.

FAQ

How do I book these events?
Bookings open on our website approx. 1 month before each session. Members receive early access. Spots fill fast – and at our biggest events, membership can be the difference between getting in or missing out! Keep an eye on our social media for announcements.

Can I bring my friends or family to watch?
Yes! All spectators, including pit crew, must pre-purchase their tickets via driftingsa.com.au/tickets. Passenger passes can be bought on the day. Minimum age is 14, with under 18s requiring approval from a parent/guardian
